I haven't really wanted to type out the situation about why we now have the siblings of our foster daughter living with us. But now I think it's ok to. The 3 kids were all living together in a foster home when after a year, children's services and foster mother decided that in the best interest for the kids to be separated. (I won't get into all the why's about that decision.) Which is why we got foster daughter #1 in January. Her siblings stayed with the foster family they were all with, and plans were started for them to be adopted by that family.
In Sept. I got a phone call with the devastating news that this foster mom had died from a sudden heart attack. It was a weird sort of time for us. I knew this mother from our Advocate Meetings and she was a Hoot! She could make you laugh so easily. It was a phone call of her's asking for a piano teacher that got us on the road to fostering actually! Although I didn't agree with her stance on separating these 3 children, I still very much appreciated and admired what she had done with fostering for so many years and so many kids!
So we were sad for the family yet happy that we were being told that the three may be given another chance to live together again. They asked if we would be willing to try and have them come live with us and of course we said, "YES!" Happy Happy Happy to have them all with us. They have been through quite a bit together and apart. From January to Sept they were living in separate foster homes.
They love each other dearly. We have some normal sibling squabbles going on but nothing we haven't been through before...even if it was on a slightly smaller scale maybe.
We have seen SOOO much progress with foster daughter #1 who came to us in January. She loves Jesus and lately her thing has been to praise God for the sky while we're driving. She has a heart for the Lord and she's a true blessing! She is 8. School progress has been amazing too for her! No more "lazy brain" stuff going on...or at least it is very minimal.
Her brother is 6 and repeating Kindergarten this year. He has had alot to deal with here lately but is such a trooper! Not only has he had to deal with a foster parent's death but a change living arrangements and school placement. He is trying hard to make wise choices and really looks up to Levi. He loves playing with his older brother as well as younger sisters! He tries to be a blessing around the house and we love him!
The youngest and sassiest by far is foster daughter #2. She is 3 and full of spunk and preciousness. She has been treated like a princess and this we know full well! =) Training her to be kind to others and use words like please, thank you and all is what we are currently doing...and may be working on for quite some time I have a feeling! ;-) But she is a cuddle-bug just like her siblings and we have fun lovin on her. She is very bright and has no problem playing by herself even when older kids and I are doing school. That has been a huge blessing!!!
We've been having lots of fun with them! The County Fair was a big hit! And we've hit quite a few parks in the area. They love to play on the swingset here and ride bikes up and down the alley.
The next couple of weeks we will be working on Kindness here. Even Mama needs to be reminded to use Kindness in her voice! So "kind words kind actions" is our mantra along with Eph 4:32 and Prov. 15:1! =) All the while trying not to grow weary in doing good! =) =) God is Good!
